This chromium gives the plain steel its corrosion resistance. By adding other elements such as molybdenum, nickel and nitrogen, this metal increases its resistance to corrosion and heat resistance. In order for this type of steel to react against rust and work well, the amount of chromium used in it should not be less than this amount. Because the presence of this amount of chromium in steel creates anti-rust properties. In simpler terms, chromium is an element that strengthens steel’s resistance to rust.

In addition to chrome, other compounds are also used to produce stainless steel. Molybdenum and nickel can be mentioned among these compounds. Nickel is used to create flexibility and increase formability in stainless steel. The discovery of stainless steel was that scientists found that by adding about 10-20% of chromium and nickel to existing steel, another type of steel is obtained that is resistant to acids and rust. In our daily life, we come across things that are made of steel; Such as electrical appliances, fishing equipment and many others.

This type of steel is shiny and easily polished. For this purpose, stainless steel is used as a substitute for spotlights and mirrors.
